Track Review: Gunna “SKYBOX”

Is Gunna finally having his artistic breakthrough on his upcoming album “WUNNA”? Infamously dependent on long-term collaborators/producers such as Wheezy and Turbo, the Atalanta crooner rapper switches beat to his tour DJ, Taurus, on the lead single “SKYBOX” and trades in for an ever-so-animated performance. The glazed guitar plucking sounds exude a metallic sparkling, dripping through Gunna’s melodic crooning. But he’s not drowsy here, at least not on the crisp and acrobatic hook. “This really rap, this ain’t a gimmick”, he later boasts, and it’s refreshingly convincing. Will “SKYBOX” really see the transitioning of Gunna? The answer has never been so promising.
